The dark shade of the floor is considered to be a classic technique in decorating a room. No matter how many new solutions appear, the search always begins with the familiar brown or gray shade of wood. And there are many reasons for this, because it is not for nothing that dark-colored laminate is presented in the widest range in any construction market.
Dark laminate in the interior
First of all, let’s immediately outline the reasons why dark laminate is not chosen:
- It is likely that you have already heard that a dark floor visually reduces space and somewhat darkens an already small room. This is true, and dark laminate in the room may well do you such a disservice. Unless you pay more attention to the lighting and make it multi-level, which will improve the situation somewhat.
- When your room is illuminated with natural light during the day, dark laminate flooring will provide an excellent backdrop against which all the dust is clearly visible.
These are, perhaps, two contraindications to choosing a dark color. Regarding the question of the type of coating, namely matte or glossy, there is something to think about. Even a very rich, dark chocolate-colored glossy laminate will not seem so gloomy. But this coating has a significant drawback: all scratches on it become visible almost immediately. But the matte finish shows all the stains and dirt.
But all these disadvantages more than offset the advantages; it’s not for nothing that dark laminate is used so actively in interiors. Firstly, this is a universal option for any design style. When we create cozy rooms in our usual classic or modern laconic style, we use dark brown laminate.
But high-tech, some rare styles in our homes like art deco or Scandinavian, will be quite harmoniously complemented by dark gray laminate. At first glance, it seems too unusual for us, but in fact, dark gray laminate will be an excellent background for an interior in yellow-orange, blue, beige and even neutral green tones.
