The art of stucco has been known since ancient times. And to this day it remains relevant, appearing in many modern homes. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans used a similar type of decor in architecture, refreshing it with coloring or gilding. And in Russia, at first, stucco molding “lived” only in church institutions and palaces. Well, then, slowly but surely, she began to move into the homes of ordinary citizens.
At first, stucco was made by modeling a plastic mass that was applied to the plastered base of the ceiling, wall or other part of the building. Well, later they began to make stucco in workshops, cutting, turning or sculpting individual parts. However, even in this case, it takes too much time and precision to produce identical parts.
The situation was saved by the appearance of gypsum, from which molds began to be made. This not only sped up the work, but also significantly reduced the cost of the process. Over time, other materials for creating forms appeared.
Interior decoration
A small amount of stucco, as well as its correct compositional combination with other components of the overall design, will decorate the building not only inside, but also outside. In addition, stucco decoration will help hide small defects that remained either as a result of repairs or appeared over time, and you do not have the opportunity to engage in major alterations.
Today, when working with modeling, you need to focus on modern materials, techniques and, of course, not forget about the quality of installation of the same gypsum stucco molding. The use of modern methods of fastening and manufacturing the product is also of great importance. Although the master can spend a lot of time executing the order, which in the end will turn out exactly the way the client wants it to be.
It is known that gypsum is a natural mineral building material. And modern technologies make it possible to use gypsum stucco in the interior as a decorative decoration with voluminous and clear lines.
All kinds of decorative gypsum stucco are represented by various rosettes, luxurious cornices, friezes decorated with amazing ornaments, ceiling coffers and wall pilasters. And this is only a small fraction of the whole sea of various forms and solutions that can be presented in the modern world. Moreover, you can purchase both single ready-made decorative items and components that you select to suit your interior.
Modern plaster decor is rich in color schemes. You can get bronze, gold or any other shade you like. Imitation of patina or marble will look great in any room.
Other types of stucco
In addition to gypsum stucco, other materials are also used today. These are both polyurethane and polystyrene. These materials are lightweight and easy to install compared to gypsum options, especially when installing stucco on the ceiling.
However, products made from polymer raw materials have significant disadvantages. For example, they quickly crack at the joints. They also do not have a clear shape, and there is no depth to the pattern.
The main disadvantage is their toxicity, which actively manifests itself over time. Plaster cannot be blamed for this. As a result, we understand that gypsum decorative products are the ideal solution if you want to decorate a room with something unique and give it your own style.
We must not forget that gypsum stucco meets all safety requirements. It is not afraid of fires, is durable and is an absolutely environmentally friendly product.
