The design of a room seems unfinished if accents and decorative elements are not placed in it. As such decorations I often use paintings, wall panels, family photos or artistic photographs. Today it has become fashionable to inherit Western styles of decorating apartments and houses, and black and white paintings for interiors are gaining popularity.
Black and white pictures for the interior: choose wisely
The combination of two contrasting colors has always been considered a classic and has been actively used to create a wide variety of designs. At first glance, it may seem that this is too radical a choice and that it stands out from the crowd.
In fact, it turns out that this choice solves a lot of problems that arise when choosing home decor:
- for rich, complex designs, this option is the most successful, since you do not have to select shades and textures to match the surrounding environment;
- black and white paintings for the interior are quite laconic and fashionable minimalist trends are fully reflected in them;
- With the right selection of images, you can safely hang such beauty in any room of your home.
If we are talking about the bedroom, nude images, delicate sketches of cityscapes or outline images are perfect. The lighter the interior, the more white there should be on the canvas.
For an office or living room, it is permissible to use more saturated and darker images. To prevent them from standing out too much, use white frames and mats, this will add a stylish touch. The tandem pattern on the painting and some other decorative elements also looks very beautiful: pillows, vases.
As for the nature of the image, it all depends on the room. For a living room or hallway, abstraction, floral patterns, portraits or city landscapes are usually chosen. The kitchen will look better with a corresponding theme: designs with cutlery or plates in a modern style, fruits or logos of famous brands. The only requirement is that the image should not spoil your appetite.
Paintings in black and white interior
Choosing decor for such an interior is much more difficult. The fact is that saturated contrasting colors set the dynamics and it is not so easy to fit images into it harmoniously. As a rule, two main techniques are used: dark wallpaper and a light “filling”, or, on the contrary, a light background with contrasting furniture.
In the first case, it is more difficult to select paintings for a black and white interior, since the walls themselves are already paintings in some way. In such a situation, it is best to use the technique of combining several types of wallpaper. You can cover only one wall with motley dark wallpaper, leaving the rest neutral and plain. Then feel free to hang images in black frames on a light background. Often they repeat the pattern on a contrasting wall.
If your main color is white, then the field for experimentation is much wider. For a painting in a black and white interior, you can choose not only a black, but also a dark gray frame. To prevent this design from reminiscent of an office, it is filled with colored accents. They can also be duplicated in the image. For example, you “diluted” the main background with warmer beige or golden shades. Then the baguette can also be chosen with gilding, and the image itself is not on a white, but a cream background.
Paintings for black and white interiors are usually made in a modern style. Most often they use images of animal skins, abstraction or family portraits. It is not at all necessary that the images be made in black and white. Add a little color and the room will become softer and warmer. This technique will allow you to preserve the features of the style, but smooth out too noticeable contrast.
