Mirrored ceilings are a modern decorative solution that will bring elegance and celebration to any interior. Mostly these ceilings are placed in places with high traffic: office premises, hotels, bars, train stations, shopping centers and discos. However, the designers managed to organically integrate mirrored ceilings into living spaces, and now many customers agree to such experiments.
Mirror ceilings have the following qualities:
- create the illusion of a high ceiling;
- expand the room;
- provide a beautiful play of light;
- convenient for installation;
- compatible with other types of ceilings;
- hide cracks and stains.
The main disadvantages of mirrored ceilings include the fact that they are fragile and get dirty quite quickly. Any stains are visible on an illuminated mirror surface. Also, before laying mirror tiles, you need to level the ceiling.
Types of mirror ceilings
Depending on the type of material used, ceilings are divided into several types.
- Tiled ceiling. Mirror tiles are used for the ceiling. Square or diamond-shaped tiles are attached to the leveled ceiling surface, and the ceiling is divided into segments. The tiles are installed using glue or screws. An analogue of a tile can be a solid mirror, but it causes difficulties during installation.
- Slatted mirror ceiling. Mirror plastic panels covered with a mirror film for the ceiling are used. The surface of the panels can have components or be completely smooth. The slatted ceiling sits on cement or is screwed on. The main advantage of such a coating is its flexibility, but its disadvantage is easy flammability and surface distortion.
- Mirrored suspended ceilings. PVC film with a reflective effect is used for the ceiling. Unlike glass, the reflection on film is blurred, only outlines and shades are visible. Suspended ceilings are mounted on special ceiling profiles, and there is no need to level the ceiling. In addition, installation of the tension structure takes little time and eliminates dusty work.

In addition to materials, there are several types of reflection: matte, reflective and light-transparent glass. You can apply a colored or colorless pattern to the mirrors, which is selected according to your personal order.
Mirror ceiling in the interior of the apartment
The use of reflective ceiling coverings is periodically practiced in apartments and houses. Most often, a mirror ceiling can be found in the bathroom. Designers do not recommend using tiles and solid mirrors in bathrooms, as they will leave traces of condensation on them, which will be difficult to clean. The ideal solution is a suspended or slatted ceiling. These coatings do not accumulate condensation and are resistant to fungus.
The mirrored ceiling in the hallway looks original. It enlarges the small space of the hallway and is an excellent business card for the apartment. A tiled ceiling is suitable for the corridor. Strict geometric shapes and the absence of unnecessary ceiling decor will not harm the corridor, but, on the contrary, will make it stylish and laconic.

If you decide to use a mirror ceiling in the kitchen, then it is better to turn to stretch ceilings. A slatted ceiling is not suitable due to its rapid flammability, and grease and fumes from the stove will collect on glass surfaces.

For the most visited rooms – the living room and bedroom – any type of covering is suitable. Here you can experiment with decor, combine several different materials and create multi-level designs. Pay attention to the spotlights – they will make the room more elegant and will reflect beautifully from the glossy surface of the ceiling.
