Laminate with a beam

by decoredhome.com

Laminate is a floor covering of a high density of wood -fiber slab. Today, there are two types on the market – ordinary and with a chammer.

Consider what the laminate with or without a chamfer means, and why it is needed on the material.

The purpose of the chamfer and its variety

The chamfer is in a certain way the cut edge, which performs a decorative purpose on copying a natural plank floor. It is created on the components of the floor covering of natural wood. The main function of the chamfer on the laminate is to make it similar to natural wood.

Such a recess is made on strips with a thickness of at least 10-12 mm, sometimes by 8 mm. A 12 mm laminate with a beam has the same supporting opportunity as without it. If you cut the edge on the material thinner than 8 mm, it will become very fragile.

Non -gaping panels with a chamfer make it possible to get a flooring that you can’t distinguish from the parquet.

Depending on the geometry of the location of the groove, it is made bilateral (the edge passes along the long edges) or four -sided (along the entire perimeter of the panel).

The four -sided chamfer copies the tile coating. The unique effect is obtained by the gradation of narrow and wide plates with double -sided beam. It is recommended to purchase a laminate with a beam 31, 32, 33 class with a high wear resistance.

The size of the edge is of two sizes: deep – two millimeters and small – one. With the exposure of the room with temperature differences, a deep fasement prevents the deformation of the panels.

When installing a laminate without a chamfer, you need a perfectly flat surface, as it forms a continuous smooth plane. If errors are made when connecting, then on this type of coating they will be visible immediately, while the laminate with the edge can be mounted on an uneven floor.

Parts of coating without a chamfer firmly fit together and create a monolithic coating without gaps, which focuses on its artificial character. The application of grooves imitates a plank texture.

For those who are worried that dirt will remain in the hollows between the boards, they should not be nervous – they are too small for this. The edge is treated with water and dirt-repellent materials.

In addition to the fact that the chamfer imitates flooring from expensive natural materials, it still hides the gaps when connecting the boards, which will further ensure self -regulation of the sexual bar if the floor begins to swell. It is thanks to the chamfer that this type of coating will serve at least 10-15 years.

The pattern of laying a laminate with a beam can be in the form of:

  • “Christmas tree” (installation of boards is carried out along the line of light or from it);
  • squares;
  • Direct styling is performed in the direction of sunlight, laying across the light is relevant for placement with a small width. The direct method has minimal costs for cutting the material;
  • Diagonal styling (at an angle of 45 degrees) is characterized by increased pruning costs.

Laminate with a chamfer – pros and cons of

The advantages of using the edge include:

  • camouflage of the cracks and deformation of the coating during operation;
  • moisture resistance;
  • The seizure is protected by the compositions from dust;
  • Convenient and easy installation;
  • perfect imitation of natural expensive coatings;
  • wide designer choice;
  • the strength of the coating increases;
  • The presence of joints allows you to reduce material costs.

According to users’ reviews, the chamfer has practically no minuses. There are no significant differences between the laminate with or without the technology of installation and operation. The chamfer is just a decorative element. Therefore, when buying a laminate, you need to be guided by your preferences and design.
