Wooden shelving

A rack can be a convenient device for storing things. It will find its place in the bedroom, in the living room, in the kitchen, and in the bathroom. It is especially convenient that such a piece of furniture as a shelving unit will easily fit into any interior and room design. The good thing about its open shelves is that they allow you not only to store a lot of things, but also to place on them all sorts of decorative items needed in a particular style. For example, in a safari interior these could be wooden figurines, and in a marine style – shells and ship models.

Materials for the production of shelving

Shelving can be made from wood, metal, plastic and even partly from textiles. The choice of material depends on the functions that this future piece of furniture will perform. To store some heavy objects or for use in an unheated room, metal racks are suitable, for the bathroom – plastic ones. But wooden racks have the best appearance and environmental properties. They can be used in all rooms of a house or apartment; such a piece of furniture can be easily built independently. Well, the finished options amaze with the variety of wood processing, various carved details and a huge number of sizes – from small ones, no more than a meter high and with 2-3 shelves, to large sectional ones that occupy the entire wall.

Types of wooden shelving

According to the configuration, we can distinguish straight, wall-mounted and wooden corner racks. Corner models are convenient if your room is not very large or the walls are filled with furniture, but there is free space in the corner. There are also options for things and special wooden book racks with sloping shelves. Sometimes you can find shelves with a built-in table.

Finally, there are open models and shelving cabinets in which the shelves are hidden behind the doors.
