Home Sweet Home. A wonderful book. Even if you don’t have enough time to finish reading it, and you devote very little time to reading it, I’m sure you will definitely like it. It is one of those books that make you think about yourself, even if you are busy with something. Wonderful colorful design! Special thanks to the illustrator. Easy to read. The book is filled with useful tips on design and interior decoration. I can say this – if you are new to this business, but you have a craving for beauty, art, aesthetics, then this book is especially for you.
Well, now I want to tell you in more detail about my impressions. Yes, that’s right, because I was really impressed by this book. How noticeable it is when an author writes with soul. I think this happens in all industries, be it writing a book, a portrait, or creating a new interior sketch.
One of Deborah’s thoughts stood out to me: “The simple secret is that every design decision should contribute to the creation of beauty and convenience. Beauty – to heighten the senses, comfort – to feel cared for.” To the last phrase I would also add comfort. After all, when the apartment is beautiful and comfortable, but not cozy, all the charm of the designer’s work is lost. I really liked the chapter on lighting. In many ways I agree with the author, but I also learned a lot of new things for myself.
I also admire the division of chapters not by room names, as authors of books with similar themes often do, but by the distribution of areas of the apartment into places for communication, a warm welcome, places for books, drinks and feet. Very unusual, but interesting. Good tips on decorating and also hosting guests, which was quite unexpected. A couple of tips about serving came in very handy. And, of course, the style lessons were great. Deborah gave enough attention to the smells and aromas in the house. After all, the sources of background odors in our lives are everything that surrounds us: coffee, food, books, children, and so on. And they significantly affect our mood and attitude.
