by decoredhome.com

If you need an unusual modern and beautiful room design, good sound insulation, a flat ceiling surface for relatively little money, then you just need to make a plasterboard box on the ceiling.

You can choose the best design for you among the many different types of hanging plasterboard boxes, of which, today, there are at least two dozen: different shapes, colors and types of lighting. It is important that the design of the plasterboard box is in harmony with the overall design of the room and apartment and makes a pleasant impression on the owners and guests.

Often, against the background of such a ceiling, various patterns, and even entire paintings, are depicted. In the living room you can depict a blue sky with clouds or flowers, in the bedroom the starry sky is very popular, in the kitchen – asymmetrical designs of different discreet shades.

Box for lighting made of plasterboard

This type of box serves not only as a design element, but also as a technically useful element: it can hide wiring and ventilation pipes, and is also the basis for mounting lamps or hidden lighting. The box is very quickly and easily assembled; to make this design, you don’t have to be a builder at all.

There are two main types of plasterboard boxes for lighting:

  • with a plasterboard niche;
  • with polystyrene foam cornice.

A box for lighting is quite expensive, and, moreover, it requires much more time to install than a simple plasterboard ceiling.

If the box is combined with a galvanized profile, then this design will be more heat-resistant. In this case, you can install both halogen lamps and incandescent lamps. When installing a plasterboard ceiling in the kitchen, it’s a good idea to know that after a few years, cracks may appear in the ceiling due to constant changes in temperature and humidity, especially in the area above the stove and oven.

If you wish, you can install single-color and multi-color lighting under the ceiling. A strip with LEDs is attached around the perimeter of the ceiling and connected to the electrical network. If you are planning decorative lighting, then it is advisable to install hidden switches: with a remote control or switched on/off by a clap.
