Dry self-leveling floor mixtures
Conventionally, all mixtures can be divided into cement and gypsum. The first ones are used to level any surfaces. The laying layer varies from two to fifty millimeters. The smaller the thickness, the shorter the coating exposure time.
Cement compositions are an order of magnitude more expensive than gypsum compositions, but unlike the latter, they can be used in any type of room. Gypsum coatings, in turn, can only be used in rooms with low humidity.
There are two options for using self-leveling floor mixtures. You can use one cement mortar for the entire area of the apartment, but the coating will be quite expensive. If you take two types of mixture, then a special compensation gap should always be left at the joining points.
Which self-leveling floor mixtures should I choose?
Today, in specialized hypermarkets you will find products from several of the most popular brands. Let’s look at each of them in more detail.
- Self-leveling floor mixtures from Knauf. This brand offers several different formulations. For example, the Knauf-Boden series consists of high quality gypsum. This composition is perfect for rooms with normal and low humidity. Due to the high quality of gypsum and quartz sand admixtures, Knauf self-leveling floor mixtures are not inferior in strength to some cement coatings.
- Self-leveling floor mixtures Horizon. Products of this brand are intended for finishing leveling and belong to thin-layer coatings. Designed for residential and work premises. The thickness of the layer, which is provided in self-leveling floor mixtures Horizon, does not exceed 10 mm. It is intended for use on cement-sand, gypsum or concrete bases. Can be used as a final coating in combination with a paint layer. This option is suitable for underfloor heating equipment.
- Self-leveling floor mixtures Moment. Designed to work with concrete foundations. It is characterized by high wear resistance, good adhesion and environmental performance. The mixture is of the cement type and is used exclusively as an initial leveling.
- Self-leveling floor mixtures Volma. The products of this company are almost universal: they can be used for rooms with any humidity, for any purpose. Limitation only to direct contact with water.
