It is difficult to imagine a stylish apartment without a beautifully designed window. To decorate the window opening, light tulle curtains, heavy rich curtains, and a variety of blinds are used. You can emphasize the texture and design of curtains using a curtain rod, which serves to secure the fabric. Depending on the style of the apartment and the characteristics of the curtains, certain types of curtain rods are used, which have different mounting methods and designs.
What types of cornices are there?
Depending on the type of fastening, the following models can be distinguished:
- Wall types of curtain rods. They are used when the ceilings in the room are suspended, and a niche for mounting on the wall is not provided in advance. Such curtain rods are mounted to the wall above the window and perfectly perform their main functions, namely supporting curtains/curtains. Wall-mounted models have one or two rods that are attached to special brackets. The rods can be made of wood, iron or aluminum.
- Types of ceiling cornices. Designed for ceiling mounting. With them, the curtains look more sophisticated and elegant, as it feels like they are coming directly from the wall. To hide the structure, sometimes decorative niches or special baguettes are used, inlaid with carvings, marble or veneered with expensive types of wood.

If we classify cornices according to the material they are made of, then they can be divided into several groups:
- Profile. Made from aluminum profile. Equipped with a sliding mechanism. Aluminum profiles can be given any shape, which is why they are used in arched windows.
- Wooden. Pairs perfectly with wicker furniture, floors or doors. They give the room coziness and special charm.
- Metal. As a rule, they have a minimalist design. Ideal for interiors in high-tech and techno style.
- Plastic. A budget option for curtain rods that, no matter what, look fashionable and elegant. Plastic comes in many colors, so this cornice can be matched to the color of curtains or wallpaper.
