The word itself is no longer new. Moldings or decorative borders are widely used to decorate ceilings and walls; they even decorate interior items. What are the benefits of doors with moldings, and whether they are suitable for every interior, we will consider below.
Metal doors with molding
At first glance, it may seem that the very combination of metal and molding is somewhat dubious. We won’t weld slats to metal. Of course, no one will weld anything. We will attach the molding to the metal doors using self-tapping screws, not to the metal itself, but to the MDF panel.
Why do they do this? Massive metal doors do not always decorate the facade of a house. And for an apartment, this sometimes even becomes something of an indicator of the “stuffing” of the apartment: the stronger the door, the greater the likelihood of valuable things being behind it. Therefore, decorating metal with panels finished in the form of moldings is not only an aesthetic idea, but also in some way practical.
Interior door with molding
But for interior models, this is exactly the way to decorate the doors and fit them into the style of the house as harmoniously as possible. For example, an interior door with a molding with a characteristic arrangement in the form of crosses, painted in a natural color, will fit into Provence or rustic style. And if you choose wide carved and very elegant moldings, the door will automatically turn into a luxury item and will be an excellent addition to classic or art deco, and perhaps also suitable for modern.
If you prefer practicality and simple lines, then doors with wenge-colored moldings will be a good solution for a modern apartment; they will look good even in the office.
The molding will not necessarily be in the form of straight parts. There is a very wide selection of a wide variety of decorative elements: round and oval moldings used to decorate the space under the chandelier will also become a beautiful decoration.
Doors with molding can be purchased in a ready-made design. But no one is stopping you from decorating it yourself. To do this, it is enough to find a door as simple as possible, without decoration, if possible made of plastic. And then we glue the polyurethane molding onto the canvas, use putty to work out all the voids and irregularities and cover everything with interior textured paint. If a complex carved molding is chosen, it is often additionally worked with dark paints in the area of the design to make it voluminous and visible.
