Where are clinker tiles appropriate?
Not all rooms can use brickwork to make it appropriate and practical. In any case, it is not rational to cover all the walls with tiles, and such a room will look more like a warehouse or other non-residential premises. But individual zones decorated with such masonry look quite attractive.
In which rooms can clinker bricks be used?
- Kitchen. Tiles in this room are more appropriate than anywhere else, especially in the kitchen apron area. It protects against splashes, soot, steam, high temperatures and other negative factors to which the kitchen is exposed.
- Corridor (hallway). It is also an area of increased risk of exposure to dirt and water. There are always shoes and outerwear here that stain the walls. But this is not a problem for tiles – they will protect and, moreover, give the room an interesting look.
- Bathroom and toilet. These two rooms (or one if it is a combined bathroom) are traditionally tiled. But for special charm and style, you can imitate brickwork.
- Living room and bedroom. In residential premises, imitation brickwork can also look interesting. Of course, for this you need to think through the entire interior. Features of clinker tiles for interior wall decoration
Clinker tiles are an excellent alternative to facing bricks. It is its inexpensive and no less beautiful analogue. By its own nature, it is completely identical to it. Clinker tiles and facing bricks differ in their thickness, characteristics, and laying method.
Brick tiles are no different from ordinary tiles that we are used to laying in our bathrooms and kitchens. Clinker tiles have a glazed surface, so that their natural color will remain for a long time. The relief will also not be damaged even under mechanical influence.
Clinker tiles are made from raw clay, so, like ordinary bricks, they have a porous structure, due to which they perfectly retain the heat of the room. We can safely say that in addition to a purely decorative function, this facing material also has good performance properties.
The peculiarities of fastening clinker tiles are that they are placed on a wall pre-lubricated with an adhesive solution, and a mandatory step will be the presence of crosses between each tile, which will fix the seams into which the solution must then be applied. However, this solution is not grout, as is the case with conventional tiles, but is a mixture of sand and cement, which emphasizes the naturalness of the brickwork.
It is necessary to take into account the fact that unglazed brick-like clinker tiles are not suitable for interior decoration of bathrooms and kitchens, since they have a significant disadvantage – high water absorption. Of course, it looks more natural than tiles coated with a protective layer of glaze, but due to its porous structure it absorbs a lot of moisture. This feature must definitely be kept in mind.
