Today, columns are an excellent decorative element of the interior, adding beauty and originality to the room. Previously, columns most often served as supports for any structure. In ancient times, such columns were made of marble. In modern premises, columns play the role of support only in large areas. And in small apartments, plasterboard columns are successfully used for zoning the room. For example, using columns you can separate the living room from the bedroom or kitchen. In a children’s room, a plasterboard column can distinguish between a recreation area and a play area.
Decorative columns in the interior
In the interior of large apartments, decorative columns made of plasterboard are usually placed near fireplaces, stairs or arched openings. In a small apartment, mini-columns that can also serve as stands would be appropriate. Columns go well with multi-level ceilings.
Columns are often made in white, however, depending on the overall interior, they can be covered with wallpaper, painted in any color, or decorated with relief plaster. Round plasterboard columns are decorated with a variety of decorative elements, including beautiful stucco molding.
An excellent design technique is to construct columns in pairs; in a large room there can be two or even three such pairs.
In addition to being aesthetic, a column can also carry a functional load: inside it you can place shelves, lighting, or even an aquarium with fish. If you need to hide various utilities located in the room, such as ventilation or water and sewer pipes, or lay electrical cables, then a round or square plasterboard column can also come to the rescue.
Sometimes plasterboard columns are installed on both sides of the arch, and then the interior of your room takes on a particularly original, slender look.
