In addition, such a ceiling can be installed independently, in contrast to the complex process of installing a stretch ceiling. And in terms of design, when using a plasterboard ceiling, you can make any niches and projections, thus zoning the room and giving it your own unique design.
Types of suspended plasterboard ceilings
Suspended plasterboard ceilings are divided into types depending on the number of levels. The level is formed by a plasterboard sheet located at a certain distance from the ceiling. In accordance with this, there are mainly one- and two-level suspended ceilings made of plasterboard, however, with a complex design and certain customer wishes, ceilings with any number of levels can be made. You just need to remember that even a simple plasterboard ceiling without built-in lighting will reduce the height of the room by at least 5 cm due to the large height of the profiles and by 8 cm if lighting is integrated into the ceiling. Consequently, the next level will be even lower, thus requiring initially quite high ceilings in the room, since they lose a lot in height.

You should also consider in advance the illumination of a plasterboard suspended ceiling, whether it will be built into the ceiling in the form of small lamps and LEDs, or placed along the walls or in the center of the room in the form of a large chandelier. This also needs to be decided at the planning stage, since during installation it will be necessary to hide wires under the ceiling with the desired location or immediately build in light elements in the right places. And finally, when deciding which plasterboard profile to purchase, think about which room you are going to renovate. For living rooms, bedrooms and halls, a regular plasterboard sheet (it is gray in color) is suitable.

The design possibilities when using plasterboard ceilings are very wide. First of all, this concerns the placement of room lighting elements: these can be small lamps recessed in the ceiling projections or special solid lighting in combination with the main chandelier and various combinations thereof. The color of the lamps can also affect the look of the room: these can be fluorescent lamps, blue, green or even pink LEDs. Lamps can also cast various shadows on the ceiling, thereby creating interesting patterns. Lighting can come from the walls and not affect the ceiling; stars or pictures can be projected onto it.

Multi-level ceilings make it possible to experiment with the shape of protrusions and levels, giving it both strict, geometric lines and smooth outlines. In one design the level may take the shape of a flower, while in another it may take the shape of a star. Decorating with color gives the room uniqueness: the levels can vary in color, but can also be made in the same color scheme.
