If you want to protect your home from prying eyes or from the bright rays of the sun, then choosing pleated blinds for these purposes will be one of the most suitable. These curtains got their name from the French word “pleated,” which means “folded.”
Today in Europe such blinds are very popular. Pleated blinds have a great advantage – they can be installed on windows of any shape: plastic rectangular, wooden square, trapezoidal and even arched. These blinds are perfect for windows in the attic, winter garden, sloping roofs and ceiling windows, in a room or office.
Pleated blinds consist of two or three thin and almost invisible aluminum profiles, between which the fabric is located. When lowered or raised, the curtain folds into small folds, which were laid down during the manufacture of the blinds. This sun protection system has a neat appearance, since folded fabric folds take up very little space, and the mounting profile is practically invisible.
Pleated fabric (usually polyester) for pleated blinds has a fold width of approximately 15 mm. The fabric fabric is impregnated with a special agent that gives the material dirt- and water-repellent properties. In addition, the fabric does not fade in the sun.
In addition to fabric, there are also pleated paper blinds. They are most often used as temporary protection, for example, during repairs. Due to their low cost, after use you don’t mind throwing them away and replacing them with a high-quality curtain.

Types of pleated blinds
Most often, pleated blinds are produced in a horizontal design. The pleated fabric in them can rise or fall along special guides. Such horizontal blinds can use one type of fabric or two, as, for example, in the “day-night” model, where stripes of translucent and dense fabric alternate.

Vertical pleated blinds appeared not so long ago on the sun protection systems market. The folds in them are located vertically and move along the guides to the right or left. Often, vertical pleated blinds are used as an addition to an elegant curtain or curtain. However, they may well serve as an independent decorative element of the interior. Installation of such pleated blinds is not at all difficult and can be done not only on the window opening, but also on the wall near the window, and even on the ceiling.
