MDF plates are used for the manufacture of furniture facades for 50 years, so it is almost impossible to imagine a full furniture set. However, recently, this plate has undergone small changes, which made it more attractive and pleasant to use. Instead of a colored film opened with varnish, the surface began to be covered with veneered plates, which perfectly simulate a cut of wood. Thus, the venerable MDF looks much more interesting than its past analogue, and the facades from it are more popular.
Features of manufacture
The panels veneered by the MDF are obtained by pressing fine chips and connecting elements. All work takes place at very high temperatures, which allows the components to close tightly, turning into a whole canvas. To strengthen the ligament, a safe carbamide resin is used for human health. The process of creating the MDF panel itself consists of several stages:
- collection and preparation of wood chips;
- the formation of wood raw materials in the form of the so -called “carpet”;
- removal of air from raw materials in a vacuum;
- shavings press;
- Cut and grinding.
After the sheets are aligned and cut through certain sizes, the surface of the surface begins with veneer. Sheets of natural veneer are applied to the plates processed with glue, and this can be done using different technologies (transverse, longitudinal gluing, fingering in the form of fish bone, etc.). After gluing, the plates are dried under the press, after which the surface is ground and covered with special varnish. To accelerate the process, a heating press for drying is sometimes used, which allows you to stick an veneled sheet on a large number of MDF plates in a short period of time. If the surface of the plate is rough, then vacuum gluing is used, but its cost is slightly more expensive.
The finished panel is polished along and across, after which the surface is ironed with a hot roller and opened with paint and varnishes or wax. The last stage is done so that the delicate texture of the veneer does not collapse with regular physical contact.
Model series
Today, in the assortment of stores, you can find the following products opened with a thin layer of veneer:
- Openced facades of MDF. They are often used to make furniture in the kitchen, hall and bedroom. Products with such facades have a pleasant texture resembling natural wood. Such furniture facades are outwardly no different from a solid array of wood, but their cost is many times lower. The most popular are facades with veneer of oak, beech, eben, walnut, tick wood, wenge and zebrano.
- Openced plinth from MDF. According to pricing policy, it is an intermediate option between plastic model and a product made of whole array of wood. However, outwardly, such a plinth of the floor does not differ from wooden. Products with a veneer surface are used in decorating the floor from laminate and parquet, so they can be attributed to the category of premium skirting boards.
- Veneered doors of MDF. The upper part of these doors is covered with the thinnest layer of veneer, which has a pleasant texture and an original natural pattern. From above, the veneer is opened with varnish, which gives the product a unique shine and protects its penetration of moisture inside. Such models can be installed in interior aisles, but it is better not to use them as the front doors.
