Today, plaster mixtures are often used to finish facades of houses. They have excellent heat and soundproofing properties, easily lie down on the surface and protect it from mechanical damage. But the plaster has one significant drawback – it has a nondescript gray color, which does not decorate the appearance of buildings. To correct this problem, you can use colored finishing mixtures that have a unifying name – paints for facade work. With their help, you can revive the faceless gray plaster and give it a rich pleasant shade.
Brief description
In addition to a beautiful appearance, external facade paint has a number of useful advantages, namely:
- does not close the pores of plaster, maintaining the possibility of moisture discharge;
- protects the cement base from atmospheric moisture and fungal lesions;
- does not burn out in the sun;
- The stand to the pollution, since after application it is not electrified.
Along with these advantages, there are several significant flaws associated with the application of paint. Coloring is only a dry base at an average daily air temperature of at least 10 ° C. At the same time, the paint is prohibited from applying in sultry weather, after rain or with a strong wind.
How to choose a facade paint?
First you will need to decide on the amount of paint. Since it is applied to two layers, the number of packages will need to be doubled. For counting, you can use construction calculators. If you enter the name of the facade paint and the area of the walls, they themselves will calculate the right amount.
In addition, you will need to choose the material of the base of the facade paint for plaster. It can be three types:
- Acrylic. The basis is acrylic resin. The paint has a low ability to moisture absorption, is not at risk of pollution. Suitable for applying to organic and mineral foundations with the exception of silicate. It may have a persistent rich color. Repeated coloring should be done after about 10 years.
- Acrylic -ilicon. Such paint has a slight absorption capacity and slightly greater vapor permeability than acrylic. It does not distinguish unpleasant odors when applying, so it can be used already in functioning buildings. Silicone paint will be able to reliably protect the walls of the house for 25 years.
- Silicate. This paint is not susceptible to fungus and mold, withstands the effect of atmospheric precipitation. Thanks to a chemical reaction, it is firmly binded to cement and it is almost impossible to eliminate it.
