Minimalism in the interior gained very popularity, which is quite natural: after the abundance of forms and details of Baroque, the curls of modernity and the waves of popularity of the eastern style, the appearance of a laconic direction in the interior was only a matter of time.
What is minimalism?
The interior of the apartment is minimalism if:
- The minimum amount of furniture is used;
- interior details are simple, concise in shape;
- The illusion of expansion of space is created through the use of translucent structures;
- In the color design of the apartment, plain colors are used, without patterns.
Minimalism allows you to create the illusion of space even in a small apartment, hide a huge amount of necessary little things, “clean” the space. This style cannot be attributed to “cheap”: natural wood, expensive fabrics, woven blinds are used. It is better to entrust the interior design in the Minimalism style, since with all the external simplicity it is characterized by the accuracy of calculations, thoughtfulness, practicality.
The “progenitor” of minimalism is the Japanese style, characterized by the use of natural materials, furniture of contrasting color. These rules apply in minimalism today: if the floor and walls are light color, then the furniture is selected from the tree of dark colors.
Living room in the style of minimalism
Minimalism in the interior of the living room involves the use of a limited color row: white, beige, brown, yellow, ash and black. The walls are painted or covered with wallpaper of the same tone, without patterns and pattern. It is possible to use embossed plaster.
It is better not to use curtains, woven blinds or roller curtains (rolled blinds) of pastel or contrasting colors, without patterns and drawings are preferable in the living room. The use of textured fabric is allowed.
Minimalism in the bedroom
The interior of the bedroom in the style of minimalism is, first of all, a platform bed with a hidden storage system, for example, for blankets and pillows. In a small room, the bed can occupy almost the entire space, leaving small passages.
The bedroom furniture should be as simple as possible, without patterns. Closers, built-in wardrobes, pedium cabinets, etc. are preferred.
The textures are preferably rough, matte. On the floor you can lay the carpet, but always plain color, beige, gray, white or black. Color accents in the bedroom are possible.
Minimalism style kitchen
The interior of the kitchen in the style of minimalism follows the slogan “Functionality without embellishment”. The walls of the cabinets are completely smooth, with a discreet chrome fitting or without it, with handles hidden in the surface of the doors. In fact, all cabinets and boxes form a single surface, the illusion of a smooth wall.
The technique is necessarily built -in, or is hidden in special cabinets.
The color design of the kitchen is similar to the flowers in the bedroom and the living room, with the only difference: bright color 
Accents are welcome. The main thing is that the emphasis is created in one color and does not suppress the main calm tone. For example, the kitchen in white can be supplemented with bright red vases and plates.
The interior of an apartment in the style of minimalism is an excellent solution for both small -sized premises and apartments with large areas. In a small apartment, the style of minimalism allows you to use light, translucent, visually increasing space instead of heavy continuous partitions. Large areas will create a system of hidden from the eyes of an outsider of cabinets and boxes.
