Rococo in the interior is known for its brightness, wealth of color, luxury and intricacy. However, despite the unusual abundance of all the elements present for our century, the interior design in the Rococo style will always look elegant. Rococo as a style appeared between 1700 and 1780 in Western Europe, finding its place not only in painting and architecture, but also to music. The French term “Rockail” means asymmetric patterns depicting natural curls on trees, sea shells, clouds or colors. Since it is from this term that the name of the style has gone, it is not difficult to imagine which motive is mainly inherent in the Rococo style.
In some sources, Rococo is also called late Baroque, however, unlike the latter, the presence of new motives that came much later include the features of the Rococo style. In Rococo, elements of the oriental style were integrated over time. Square forms were replaced by winding lines and shapes. What has remained unchanged in Rococo since the time of Baroque is a love of complex interweaving.
As for the Rococo style in a modern interior, it still contains a large amount of gold contrasting with delicate pastel shades. In fact, the trends from China, Italy, as well as Gothic motifs are mixed in the interior. Thus, in our time, a large number of richly decorated interiors can be attributed to rococo. Gold stucco molding is also inherent in the interior in the oriental style, but Rococo is easily recognizable as much more European. It is a little more strict: in a room in the rococo style you will not find so many pillows and soft sofas. However, this does not make this style less comfortable. The only thing is that it has a slightly more elegance and absolutely absent is absenteeism.
Furniture of the Rococo style
Furniture in the style of rococo is usually made of red wood and upholstered with skin, brocade or velvet. It looks incredibly beautiful in a bedroom or a living room in Rococo style. In this regard, the Rococo kitchen loses strongly, since the upholstery materials are quite marked and their beauty goes against a practicality, vital for the arrangement of the kitchen. As a rule, furniture design is very intricate, with exquisite carvings, which emphasizes the rather feminine bends of each object.
Rococo was one of the first styles where special attention was paid to the interior. For the first time they began to attach great importance to the location of the furniture and how it is combined with the rest of the interior. Ornaments had to complement each other, often painted on the walls in the same topic as furniture. That is why, if you someday you are lucky to visit the house decorated in the Rococo style, you will notice how difficult it is to imagine that the piece of furniture from one room was freely moved to another. This does not mean that in a modern interior it is necessary to achieve absolutely the same. Nevertheless, this should make an idea of how important the combination of all the details is for this style.
The colors inherent in the style of rococo
French Rococo is widely known for the combinations of yellow, pink, ivory and gold, as well as heavenly blue and cream color. We can say that a chip of this style is the combination of pastel shades and gold.
Another important feature of the interior in the Rococo style is the use of mirrors and the departure from sharp lines, even the rooms were built in streamlined forms – ovals or circles. Thus, in order to create an authentic interior in the Rococo style, you need to not only pay attention to a huge number of details, but also start thinking about the interior even at the time of development of the project of the house in order to achieve the perfect feeling of that epoch.
